United Nations, New York, 29 January 2009: Daily Briefing by the Office of the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General. The Secretary-General today announced in Davos an appeal for $613 million to cover the immediate recovery needs of the people of Gaza for the next six to nine months. A formal appeal will be launched next week (February 2) in Geneva.
